recreate your space with spring cleaning
it's finally march, and we're already a quarter into 2025! daylight saving occurred last weekend, which means more sunlight and warmer evenings. when it comes to planning for spring, it's a good time of the year to brainstorm some preventative measures to stay organized and ensure future home and personal care maintenance. preventative care can be as simple as taking steps to prevent issues and involves proactive steps to identify and address potential problems before they develop into serious complications. this can include things such as staying organized, avoiding clutter with regular decluttering, setting up systems for managing information, establishing regular routines, and essentially preventing disorganization from building up in the first place. below are some ways that we recommend for staying ahead of this season when it comes to your home and staying organized.
personal preventive measures: this means being aware of the personal challenges that can come with being prepared for this year. perhaps this is the year that you decide to renovate the house, or you keep noticing something that has been problematic for you, like a messy office. whatever it is, below are some options to help you stay on top of it.
track your to-dos in a central place: keep track of your tasks in your notes app or a journal.
declutter your personal spaces: i always know that i'll feel better once i take some time to just declutter my closet and drop off the extras at goodwill.
preparedness: we also recommend keeping necessary backstock of items that are important for you, such as aa & aaa batteries, light bulbs, and office & home supplies.
home preventative measures: it’s also important to take time to be prepared around your homes to foresee and prevent any emergencies. disasters can happen in a blink of an eye! in southern california, disasters can be earthquakes, wildfires, hurricanes, winter storms, or even extreme heat. when you least expect it, you’ll need to be prepared for the unexpected.
digital files: it’s important to back up personal files and hard drives annually and have physical copies of medical documents, insurance details, and prescriptions on hand.
emergency kit: it’s essential to make a kit that can include any of the following:
important documents, including passports, birth certificates, family heirlooms, and other essential items
memorabilia, including photo albums and irreplaceable items
first aid kits with prescribed and over-the-counter medication, as well as prescription notes
72-hour supply of water and non-perishable food
portable batteries, battery-powered radio or flashlights with extra batteries
a change of clothes and closed-toed shoes
home appliances: maintenance on home appliances such as vacuums, dishwashers, washer/dryers, and garbage disposals are important to upkeep, as it’ll help prevent outages, potential hazardous fires, and blockages from occurring. take a moment to review the cleaning instructions & warranties on your appliances. you can polish these items yourself or consider hiring a regular cleaning service, like our team, to help with the process.
smoke & carbon monoxide detectors: it’s also a good idea each year to check the status of your detectors so that you know for certain that they are up to date.
maiorganization in-home organizing services: we offer in-home organizing services to better help you stay organized year-round. our services include spaces for bathrooms, bedrooms, closets, home offices, children’s rooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, storage closets, and garages. we also offer recurring monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual services to guarantee that you keep your home up to date.
