mindfulness & self-care during the holidays

happy BER months! you know, the last three months of the year where we celebrate the holidays and prepare for all the fall and winter festivities to begin. although celebrating the holidays can be a lot of fun, it can also be difficult with managing the chaos around hosting friends and family, managing self-care, and being in charge of home improvements. whether it's taking a few moments to meditate and focus on breath work or properly reorganizing your fall and winter essentials into storage bins, here are a few tips and tricks for handling the BER months!

october

  • thursday, october 10th was world mental health day! per WHO, “the overall objective of world mental health day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.” in that spirit, doing something as simple as just 30 minutes of journaling or walking every day can boost your mood and improve your health. some other easy tasks include setting achievable goals and priorities for yourself each month as well as creating spaces to focus on positivity around your home. we offer regular services for in-home organizing and in-home cleaning to help keep you on track and to keep your home feeling relaxed and serene.

  • october was the official kick off of the halloween season! who doesn’t love decorating their homes with pumpkins candles and spooky accessories for the festive holiday season. of course we all love our candle sets, fall colored pillow sets, and our halloween wall decorations. a simple wellness task to help make the decorating process easier is by using clear storage bins so that the items inside are visible and you can see exactly what is inside. this also helps by making sure the decorations stay safe and that everything inside can be stored safely. we recommend using a label maker to let you know the type of items are in each clear bin for future use.

november

  • sunday, november 3rd is daylight savings day, so it’s time to set back our clocks. as we set our clocks back an hour, we will lose one hour of daylight which can be incredibly difficult for some as we handle the adjustment. winter is meant to be a time to recharge and enjoy the coziness of the quiet season. as it does get darker in the evenings, some people enjoy shifting their schedules and waking up an hour earlier to take in the extra hour of sunlight in the mornings. this can lead to more time being present in the mornings such as spending the extra hour organizing the extra special spaces in your home. this 8 piece multipurpose storage organizing kit works perfectly for any space in your home. also, fun fact, winter is the best time to prioritize skincare because there is less beaming sunlight during the day which is beneficial for getting into a good exfoliating and moisturizing routine. the best way to organize your bathroom space is by using a clear acrylic makeup & skin care storage kit to keep your skincare products all in one place. in addition, for those interested in shifting from high intensity workouts to low impact workouts such as yoga or doing pilates, this equipment organizer helps keep your workout space in shape.

  • thursday, november 28th is officially thanksgiving which means spending time with friends and family during those couple of weeks. it’s important to spend time with our loved ones and to check in on each other during the holiday season. with planning friendsgiving and thanksgiving dinner, it's exceptionally smart to keep all of your cookware organized so that things don’t get out of control in the kitchen. this adjustable cookware rack is incredibly handy when locating pots and pans for cooking and cuts down on the hassle of looking for that one pan lost in the back of the cupboard. also, simple items such as a tablet or cookbook easel can help with keeping recipes open while handling foods. additionally, sometimes something as simple as a spice rack can be quick at impressing your relatives with a nice and clean kitchen. items such as these will be helpful in keeping your kitchen organized and stress-free.

december

  • december marks the beginning of the christmas - hanukkah - kwanzaa holidays! no matter what you celebrate, it's important that you keep your most important decorations organized so that you can locate and restore them easily. we always recommend using heavy duty shelving racks to keep all of your decorations available at bay or organized for quick access. once you have your shelving assembled, the best way to store your reusable christmas trees are with this oversized all-purpose storage bag. this bag is water resistant and has a zipper which will keep little critters out. we also recommend using a light storage reel to neatly roll up all of your holiday lights. lastly, as you already know, for storing holiday decorations it's very important to group and label similar items together in clear storage bins.

  • december is also year end and the time in which individuals have time off to relax and reflect. during this time, it’s always so important to take time for yourself and to find spaces to recharge before the new year. small gestures such as lighting candles, reading a cozy book, or spending a day at the spa can be so rewarding for one's body and mind. if you love calming candles, check out our end-of-the-year candle sale! select 2 or more of our signature candles or remaining seasonal candles and receive 25% off your entire purchase.

  • tuesday, december 31st is the last day of 2024! as you’re packing up your home decorations, it's a good time to take a second to pause and think about what home decorations you’re no longer using and if it's time to get rid of them. this will help you declutter some items that are no longer in use and can be helpful in starting the new year on a fresh new start. below are some local resources for decluttering your no longer in use holiday items.
